Nursing Pillows - Must Have Essential

Helloo,

So I am trying to concentrate a bit more on baby/parenting etc and I have spent ages contemplating on what I can do that people would be interested in. Recently I done a 'Packing Your Hospital Bag' - to prepare for labour and birth etc :) So now I am looking at one of my most favourite essentials from when Corey was younger.

Nursing Pillow

I remember first seeing these at The Baby Show - I went October 2010 with my mum when I was pregnant. We saw these pillows and they were great, had little animal print on it - but unfortunately we didn't get one at the time! I was slightly gutted but it was one of those things.

Anyways.. December 2010 came and to my suprise Corey came a little earlier than planned (6 weeks to be exact!) - I had an Emergency C-Section which you can read all about here. It wasn't exactly easy and well as you can imagine I was in a lot of pain and pretty weak at the time.

At the time in my local hospital there was an amazing little baby shop and they had the pillows - my mum brought it for me as a gift best thing ever :) she had remembered from the show! especially as it was the cute animal design! So here I am having my 2nd ever cuddle with Corey at 2 days old with the pillow:

Excuse the bad quality picture

Honestly, it was literally the best invention for me. I got to cuddle Corey for long periods of time. This pillow not only helped protect my scar as well as help hold Corey up as I could rest my arms on it like in the picture. Plus the fact I am super weak in general with my hands due to arthritis.

Here is a proper look at the pillow:

You can find similar at Mothercare, they have a whole range in different patterns etc on this link here roughly costing on average £20-£30.

I really highly recommend this product and it was used for at least the first 6 weeks of Corey's life whilst in hospital. Like think of all them naps baby will be taking on your lap? If it's your first baby then omg you don't understand how uncomfy and tiring your arm gets so this product will really help out :)

Did you use one of these nursing pillows or planning too? What are your thoughts?

Wishful Thinking..

Hellooo,

So today this post is a wish list, I currently am having some financial difficulties adjusting to leaving work back in January - hopefully in time these will be sorted with some budgeting etc :) so if you have any tips please let me know & link me up in the comments!

Being a blogger is honestly so tough when you are broke as you just see so many nice things that people review or write about etc and your like 'omg I want that' and 'oh its so beautiful' etc, we all do it! So I am really struggling at the moment and did some window (internet) shopping whilst having a lazy day.

I can't afford any of these but for now I can dream (no harm in that!), from the realistic to the not so realistic..

Lush Products - Link Here

So I have to admit I have never tried Lush before, I do love bath salts etc but haven't had any in years for some unknown reason. Lush is so big in the blogging community and with so many positive reviews I just really want to give them ago. This set is from there new Mother's Day range but I would be happy with any, just give me a nice relaxing bath to help me rewind when feeling stressed and sad.

Flowers

I love flowers, anyone who knows me will know this. I have been given a couple of gorgeous huge bouqeuts before from the other half but only like 2 or 3, like honestly its £5 for a nice bouquet in Tesco! (I am actually not that fussy compared to what people may think!) Roses were always my favourite, but in the last couple of years I have grown a passionate love for Tulips, they are so beautiful and come in many colours. Having flowers in the house just makes me feel happier in general, something pretty and fresh to look at - as long as I don't let them die!

Urban Decay Make-Up - Link Here

This product is absolutely huge at the moment, Urban Decay Naked 3 Eye Shadow Palette. At first I was like really what is all the hype about? But the colours are just insanely beautiful, some lovely pinky colours which would create some amazing looks!

MAC Cosmetics - Link Here

More Make-Up? I am not really fussed with MAC at the moment as the prices are just far too exspensive for it all - although don't get me wrong I would love it all! But their lipsticks are so beautiful. There are far too many colours to choose from but at the top of my wishlist are Girl About Town, Creme Cup, Please Me, Peach Blossom, Candy Yum Yum, Plumful and Rebel.

Thomas Sabo - Link Here

Usually I am a Pandora or Tiffany girl, but for those who would buy me presents know which ones I like so have gone for something different to show you, something I don't have - Thomas Sabo These are some of their new charms ready for spring/mothers day I presume. I chose these charms as they all mean something to myself and Corey, plus they are super pretty :) This is a bracelet that all 3 could fit on!

Canon E0S 00D - Link Here

I already have a really good camera the Samsung NX1000, however, since becoming a blogger it isn't really good for what I need it for. So every bloggers dream a better camera to take pictures and possible start You Tube videos in the future! :) I have played around with this a fair bit every time I go into currys and the quality of close up pictures is just amazing if you know what settings to use (I would need practise!)

Disney World, Floria

It would literally be like a dream come true for me, I would really love to go with Corey before I have another baby really. We are hoping that it would be a joint holiday/honeymoon too. This was always be a long shot and will probably never happen with those prices but just how amazing would it be?! I went when I was about 4 years old and I remember barely anything, the only thing I recall with a King Kong ride which for all I know could be me dreaming haha! Although, to let you in on a little secret I am scared of people dressed up in costumes so apparently I screamed the whole time any characters tried to come near me and spent my whole time on the Tea Cup Ride!!

Brit Mums Live - Link Here

So this is a yearly Bloggers Event for parents. It is a 2 day event in London where you attend speakers, an award ceremony for bloggers (voting starts soon guys hehe!) and food etc. But the best part getting to meet lots of fellow lovely mummy bloggers and some really big companies too. Unfortunately the price is just painfully far too expensive so maybe next year I will be there girls :)

Also anything mummy related!! Whether it be some home accessories, jewellery or a mug with mummy on it - literally anything :)

So there you have it, my wish list :) Be sure to let me know what you think and name one thing that is at the top of your wish list right now?!

Week 3 'Valentines' - Link Here.

This fourth week is 'Month You Were Born'

I am born in July, I thought it would be really cool to do American Flag for a massive July Holiday in America 'The 4th July' however it was too hard so I went with summer pastels, a new favourite to us all for this spring/summer coming up :) These are the Models Own Scented. They are such beautiful colours and smell gorgeous!

Now I have some strange nail art using these colours and pastel Models Own nail art pens, they aren't very good so please excuse this. But I would use one of these or some better design for the wedding finger.

So there you have it - hope you enjoyed :) Please be sure to let me know your thought in the comments, would really appreciate it! If you took part please be sure to leave your links too so I can check yours out!

Nail Varnish Storage Solution

Hellooo,

Most of you will know that I have a bit of a new found hobby of Nail Art etc so I can practise for the career I want as a Nail Technician. I have various 'Nail' related posts that I have recently done so please be sure to go check them out after this if you are interested :)

I don't really have a make-up/blogging related room and my dressing table isn't big enough for all my nail stuff. So currently it is planted all over my dining table. But then on Tuesday evening I was having a chat with the lovely Alison from Rock and Glitter, you can view her blog here.

Whilst chatting we were talking about nail varnish etc, and she said how her cake stand was lonely. At first I was like what is she on about?! and then it twigged on me, using a Cake Stand for Nail Varnish - how amazing! I got so overly stupidly excited realising I had a spare one, so I did it.

This idea is totally and utterly completely Alison's idea but I asked if I could share with you as it is sooo amazing!! :)

These are the gorgeous Paris themed Cake Stand and Tin Box Set I have from my mummy for one birthday:

This is after the 'Nail' transformation:

And inside the boxes:

First is bits like remover, nail strengtheners and treatments etc. Second is my nail art pens - them sort of bits and bobs.

I had wanted some storage for my Nail Varnishes for a while and didn't want those Muji things, I had searched and searched but this really is the perfect solution. How do you store your nail varnishes? :)

Scouse Recipe

Helloo,

Today on the blog I have something a bit different, this is a recipe post :)

This meal is called 'Scouse'. A little (very vague) history behind it; one of my most favourite meals ever that my nan has cooked for me from a young age, it was her speciality. If you didn't know 'Scouse' is actually a nickname for Liverpudlians. So a bit from my Liverpool heritage. Now my mum carries on the legacy meal to keep me happy, so when she said she was cooking it on Saturday I had to jump at the chance to take some piccies to share with you lovely lot.

Ingredients

2 large finely chopped onions
1000g lean beef mince
300g finely chopped carrots
1000ml beef stock mixture
2000g white potatoes
Salt & Pepper
Olive Oil
Corn Flour

These quantities serve around 8-10 people due fact it feeds my mums house and my house. You can half the quantity for a family or 4, or just make extra to freeze for another day - whatever your preference.

Instructions

Probably not the best at explaining this and writing it down (as well I am not a cookbook after all!) but I shall try my hardest and it is a really simple recipe.

**You will need a big pan like the one shown in below picture for this quantity!**

1. Add a tablespoon of Olive oil and add to pan
2. Take your two large onions and finely chop, then fry until soft
3. Now add all mince and fry until the usual brown, then turn hob to medium heat
4. Add one tablespoon of salt and two tablespoons of pepper for flavouring
5. Take your carrots and chop these finely, roughly same size as your onions
6. Boil the kettle, and mix your beef stock to 1000ml worth stir until all dissolved (like gravy!)
7. Now add carrots and beef stock mix to the pan and bring to the boil
8. Once boiling, cover pan with a lid and bring temperature to low heat leaving to simmer for an hour
9. Whilst everything is simmering, peel and dice potatoes (larger than onions and carrots but not too big)
10. After the hour is up, add potatoes to pan and bring to the boil for another hour or until potatoes are soft
11. In a jug add two heaped tablespoon of corn flour with a little bit of cold water and mix together well
12. Add this corn flour mix to the pan and boil for a further 5-10 minutes (until liquid in pan is thickened)

and viola!

Here is what it looks like:

I know that it doesn't look like anything amazing, but it is a nice easy family recipe that does the job and tastes super yummy! I mash mine all up and making a 'Scouse Sandwich' haha :) I think I used to do this when I was a child as I didn't used to like veg so my nans way of hiding it haha :)

Here is Corey enjoying himself, he even had seconds (which is a rare occurrence!):

So I hope you enjoyed my different post today, please be sure to let me know what you think and I may do some more recipes in the future.

My Pregnancy & Birth Story

Helloooo

I am 20 years young, a newly stay at home mummy with a 3 year old cheeky monkey Corey Lucas! Here is us recently in October 2013

Here we go, it is a long one so be prepared:

Pregnancy

Aged 16 at beginning of pregnancy, turned 17 in the July.

June/July 2010

So for ages I had been feeling unwell, I took tests (lots!) and all negative. Even mum was like 'are you pregnant?' - obviously I said no as I had taken tests.

One day I thought this is silly, something is wrong so I went to the nurse - this was a Wednesday. I done the usual routine of a urine sample, she was checking some sort of levels of something with lots of stick thingys. Then was talking to me about pregnancy. Baring in mind I was currently on the implant so had no reason to think I was pregnant so slightly confused by her questions. I think I remember replying saying something like 'well it wouldn't be the end of the world' and she was replied with 'thats good as your pregnant!'

By this point I was just gobsmacked and confused, so we spoke for a while and worked out dates etc. I was already past my first trimester. Luckily, my best friend was outside waiting for me - I was still in shock, tears in my eyes and hands shaking. My boyfriend, well we had been together for 6 months at this point, things were good - my first proper love. I was working full-time in Pizza Hut Kitchen and straight after every evening he would pick me up and take me to his house. This day was no different, it was super sunny so had a BBQ with his family, then it was just us two in the garden. I was super nervous and frankly I was quite horrible to him, just few remarks like taking the piss etc. Don't know why I done that? He knew something was up. So in the end, we had to go to his room for me to tell him. I was sooo scared, erm he kind of didn't talk to me for a while. But I had already made up my mind, I was keeping the baby!

Due Date - 29th Jan 2011

That weekend, me and three of my bestest friends were going away for our first weekend away together to 'T4 On The Beach' in Weston Super-Mare (a long way from home!). It was supposed to be a drunken weekend, obviously I didn't drink in the end - neither did the others in support of me! On the Monday, it was our last day and we were travelling home having a Tesco breakfast. Yummy! Well no, they all munched through their full english breakfasts whilst I had my first ever morning sickness so had a plain roll with jam. Sucks!

4 hours later, we were finally home after like 3 train rides. I decided it was time to tell the mum. Boyfriend had jetted off to his Magaluf, luckily he was a geek so was with his best mate, older sister and his mum haha (nothing for me to really worry about!). So I showed mum the test, I was absolutely bricking it expecting a bollocking. But we jetted off to Tesco straight away to get me some vitamins, lucky me! As we were walking to the car, brother was in the garage smoking a fag, and mum just goes 'Gem is pregnant' just as casual as that, they all seemed fine. Not what I expected at all!

I had my 17th birthday whilst boyfriend was on his holiday, 4 days later he arrived home on his 19th birthday. The day after was our first scan, I was so scared. I had no idea what to expect. It went great, was super emotional and I have never been so happy when I first set my eyes on that little bean in my belly and here is the scan:

Couple of months went by smoothly, I enjoyed my pregnancy and was just working through etc. End of September, came the 2nd scan to find out the sex of the baby. Lady hadn't told us sex, so at the end I was like we do find out don't we? As I was pretty sure I had seen some man bits a few minutes before. She confirmed it was a boy. Frankly, for a split second I was a little saddened as I honestly thought I was having a girl but then I snapped out of stupidity and got exciting about a bubba boy! 2nd Scan with the evil skeleton:

Again a few months went by, we were looking for flats etc. Really I had my heart set on my mum's flat which she was renting out to my Uncle, he text one day wanting to find a new place as he knew I wanted it. YAAAY! So we planned to move in on 5th Dec, I also started my maternity the same time - yes 8 weeks early. I decided it was a good time, to enjoy christmas and sort out my flat with enough time to relax and I had a feeling I would have an early child (2 weeks etc)

The whole time I had such a wonderful supportive family, boyfriend and in laws - everyone was absolutely great :)

Until this point I had a very easy quick pregnancy, as I only knew of my pregnancy from 12 weeks, and only had 22 weeks after that. Doesn't seem like long really. I was only physically sick around twice and didn't have any pregnancy problems. Very lucky!!

The Birth

December 2010

Something I hadn't really told anyone was that I never felt the baby kick etc. Only once! I could hear the heart beat at home and every time I went to see the midwife but I didn't want to worry so I ignored it. But I did secretly panic as every time I went to the midwife, she could never tell his size as he was super small so at 33 week appointment she was like okay next time I will get you a scan if he was still in breech position.

On the 15th December, a Wednesday the boyfriend and my mum started to get super worried as I was swelling up massively in the middle of the night. So I just went into a local walk in centre who took my blood pressure which was super high, so did another urine sample and my sugar levels were not normal.

Maybe something I should have mentioned before is I was super high risk for Pre-Eclampsia which let's face it is a big worry for all pregnant ladies.

So I was rushed to hospital, they immediately diagnosed me and kept close eye. That evening the doctor told me I was most likely going to have my baby at some point in the next week. PANIC!! But the doctors do their rounds after visitor times? So I was all alone, crying my eyes out.

The next few days were a bit touch and go. They wanted to keep baby bean inside me for as long as possible, 37 weeks and then induce me. But it just wasn't possible. Sunday 19th, I had my cousin and her boyfriend visiting me, but I became unwell very quickly deteriorating. Everything was swelling up including my throat, nurse just said well it's only your glands. But cousin's boyfriend he was very worried and as a boy didn't deal with it well so demanded a doctor, who straight away said I needed to be rushed to surgery.

In the waiting room, I had my mum, boyfriend, his mum and my dad. (no idea why dad was there, we didn't speak much!). Emergency Cesarean - the one thing I didn't want, never having surgery before. I went to sleep at 6.30pm, Corey was born at 6.45pm and I woke around 7.10pm apparently. I don't remember much, just remember shouting 'I'm bleeding I'm bleeding' really panicking as I felt like I had been shot down below (tmi!). Finally, I came round a bit, they told me Corey had been taken to Neonatal Ward, he was fine and being checked over. He needed no resuscitation or anything. Everyone had seen him except me!! I remember both my parents coming in to see how I was doing. My mum told me at a later date that my dad actually asked if I was drunk?! Yes dad, just gave birth but I am plastered out my face. What a plonker!

Anyways..

Weighing 4lb1oz born 6 weeks early on 19th December 2010 at 6.45pm.

Welcome to world baby Corey! :)

The whole pregnancy I didn't like the name Corey. I wasn't the only one as neither did any of my family or friends. But the boyfriend and his friends were so set on it, something to do with a greebo band lead singer. I spent so long disagreeing with it that it actually grew on us all. Now I couldn't think of anything better that suits Corey besides that. Although literally just a couple of days ago I realised Jay Z middle name is Corey haha :)

Neonatal

So as I just said, everyone had seen Corey before I did. I got shown that picture whilst I was trying to get round from being knocked out still. At 1am I was ready to go back to the maternity ward, we took a bypass to Neonatal Ward for me to see him. Frankly, I was so tired and laying in a bed I don't really remember it. The next day they forced me to get out of bed, it stressed me out so much I called the boyfriend and mum to come help me as they were both at work! I couldn't get up, it took me at least an hour with lots of help, when I finally managed I kind of collapsed as the pain was soo bad. I had to lean on someone for around 10 minutes. I got to go over to Neonatal Ward finally, to see Corey!! Here is my first cuddle, the most perfect moment of my entire life:

The next few days were hard, Corey was ill with some sort of gastric problem. Possibly a hole in the stomach due to not being fully developed. However, because the X-Ray's were showing up with bubbles of gas, they couldn't actually see. They treated him with antibiotics and Gaviscon with no milk to hopefully improve the situation. They started to talk about an operation on Christmas Day.

Thank god, that my little beauty did get better and didn't need an operation. He was still weak of course, but slowly on the mend. My little brave man!

When I tried to get up that first day, after my visit to Corey. I must have stayed there for around 6 hours and it was bed time again as I still had lots of recovering to do. The nurses realised I wasn't given pain killers the night before, at all. The bastards! So I was fully dozed up regularly this following night and I shouldn't admit this but it felt good and I slept like a bubba.

I was a very slow recover, it took me around 6 months to be fully recovered not the normal 6 weeks. First few weeks after were hell though, my legs swelled up like balloons - I went up a shoe size & could only fit in my maternity stretch work trousers as my calves were just like solid rock.

But one thing I must say, I applaud all those mother's who go home like 2 days later after a Cesarean with the baby too - I don't know how you do it, I wouldn't of been able too!

Corey recovered over time, here is a couple of pictures of his stay:

I can't really tell you too much about this time, as I must have blocked it out or something as I just can't remember. I spent every day there, having lots of cuddles and shed many tears.

I do remember though because of him being a premature baby, we had one of the senior nurses come to our house before his arrival home to teach us First Aid on a pretend dummy baby.

Home Time

January 2011

Corey came home three and a bit weeks later. So we had planned for him to come home on the Monday but the weekend before, to say the least we were cursed with bad luck. Our water and heating broke, then his dad crashed the car and wrote it off. He was fine, I was relieved as it was an old banger so I was glad we could get a nice new car for Corey's arrival home! So because the water couldn't be fixed until the Monday, we postponed Corey coming home until the following day. The evening before, I was rushed to hospital in the middle of the night - I was in agonising pain. I think my body thought it was giving birth - no idea really? It felt like contractions a bit, but ahh it was awful.

After that stressful nightmare, finally we got to take him home. This is when his dad took paternity leave to help me out etc, we agreed this would be best. Here he is :)

Death Scare

Yes, you did read that title right. The worst, most terrifying time of my life. That precious little tiny baby that I created almost died in my arms. This is the bit where I have to try hold back the tears.

I remember it very clearly, 2 weeks after Corey had came home. His dad had returned back to work for the very first day then went to his brother's after to have a catch up. I wanted him home as Corey had sniffles all weekend, but I started to get worried. Corey was starting to go very purple. So he rushed back home but Corey had perked up a little bit.

During the day, we had taken him to the doctor first thing to get these sniffles sorted out, just encase. He really didn't know much about premature babies so sent us to the Hospital Day Unit, who brushed it off as a cold, nothing serious. Well you lying idiots..

So his dad got on with some college work on the computer, I was just sitting on my bed cuddling Corey in my arms. He was so small and cute, I was just embracing how good my life was at that moment. When I realised that everything I moved, Corey had some really red mark appear on his forehead - hard to explain, but as if all the blood was rushing to his head. I panicked, we realised Corey wasn't breathing. At this point, I froze. We lived 2 minute drive from the hospital, so thought it would be quicker than waiting for an ambulance. If you rubbed his chest he would be awake, must have helped circulate something I presume. Yes we speeded to the hospital, we didn't care.

As soon as we got to the hospital, we were seen by the nurse straight away who as soon as she looked at Corey, she took him and ran him out back away from us. I just broke down right there, we had no idea what was going on and it was at least 5 minutes before the nurse came back. The longest 5 minutes of my life. She said the doctors were trying to get him stable and breathing again. She had to take him, as she knew just by looking at him for a second he wasn't breathing. We eventually got to go round and see him, whilst they spoke to us, contemplating a transfer to Great Ormond Street would be too risky as they would have to sedate him. What?! At this point my mind was just all mushy, I had no idea what was going. I was in a room with my baby laying there, helpless with ALL the A&E staff. I mean all of them too, around 20 of them.

I don't remember when or how we even had the chance to ring the mums, but they had been sitting outside in the waiting area for a while. Knowing something was happening. So our mums were just sitting there patiently anyways. At one point if I remember correctly from what our mums said that there was a drunk man holding bread kicking off at why noone was being seen and the receptionist saying all the doctors are busy with a very poorly baby. I don't think I realised how many doctors were actually in the room though, around 20 of them - it was crazy busy!

Anyways, I remember Corey's dad went out and took the car seat to them as it was getting in the way and just update them a little bit. A little while later, I had to go see my mum and just as soon as I saw her, she got up and I just cried for a good few minutes before I could say anything. It was one of those cries where you sound like a weirdo, all snuffly and well you must know what I mean. She just cuddled me until I was ready. She had thought the worst had happened, but I eventually managed to mumble out what was happening even though I wasn't really sure myself.

I had to go back in, where around midnight they were taking him to the anaesthetist bit to sedate him. They were umming and ahhing at the idea. In the end someone decided Corey had to go on a CPAP machine (help him breathe) at the Hospital in Intensive Care. At this point, our mums popped to say hello and then left to return in the morning. We had beds of our own next to Corey's cot. After a while, I cried myself to sleep and slept for a good few hours - his dad stayed awake by our sides. I was to be woken if it was real danger but Corey was stable and safe. The next 24 hours were critical to what will happen. The next morning, here is Corey with his CPAP mask:

Still the next day, he was having feeds through a nostril tube, and that night we had to go home to get showered and have a good nights sleep. We were reassured this is okay to do and he was in safe hands to do so. We returned around 9am the next morning. Not even 48 hours after and we were shocked to see Corey's CPAP machine had been taken off. The nurse who had been by his side all night, said that he was just so hungry he had to be bottle fed. Little piggy! He was fine and quite frankly after all that ordeal and such a scare, he recovered pretty quickly and was home on the Friday.

I couldn't believe it, I was so relieved he was better! At the time, I didn't deal with this so much as I just was too happy that he was okay and well. As you can probably imagine how awful it was at the time. Around a year later it finally dawned on me that Corey almost died, in my arms on my bed at only 6ish weeks old. The most terrifying thing ever and I just can't believe how lucky I am to have him with me to this day still.

The ironic thing is, he has barely been ill ever since - just the odd cold here and there. He must have a made himself a really good immune system, unlike me!

All is well..

So all is well, here is a couple of pictures of him at home not long after:

Now he has not long just had his 3rd birthday, a cheeky healthy monkey :) His development is up to normal toddler, he was behind on the walking but his talking has always been superb. Just for those that have wondered as he was a premature baby. His dad and I have now gone our separate ways. But Corey is the cutest most adorable child ever who is healthy and happy! He is the love of my life and very adored by both of his families! I wouldn't of been able to go through all of this without my mum too, as she has always been there for Corey and I every step of the way :)

You could read about my experience of his sleeping routine and other bloggers here. Also, got Potty Training and Terrible Twos here.

Here is a couple of pictures of us from various points of his life:

Hope you have enjoyed my extremely long story and haven't got bored. It meant so much to me writing this, even though at one point I cried too much reliving it all. Corey came over and gave me a cuddle though :)

#nailartweeklyproject - Week 3

Hellooo,

Some of you may have seen my recent post of Nail Art Goodies & Treats :) I had been treating myself to lots to start my new (future) career as a Nail Technician.

When Danni from Gingerbread Smiles was posting about this awesome new project, I just had to jump aboard. Here is the super cool logo she made for it too :) - so cute!

Gingerbread Smiles

Use #nailartweeklyproject on twitter and instagram to look at everyone else's who is involved too :)

Week 1 'Clothes' - Link Here.

Week 2 'TV or Film' - Link Here.

This third week is 'Valentines'

Sorry it is a bit late this week, I had been struck with the sickness bug. However, better late than never so here we go:

Instead of just one main nail usually what would be the wedding finger, I went with two and did an alternate. I think it is very cute & still simply but with that sort of light glitter which isn't too in your face. I just love it :)

A little mistake as you can see however I thought instead of trying to fix it which would probably ruin it I would just leave it! Looks much better in the person and in the bottom picture that isn't a really bad heart, just reflection in the light - had to take on my iPad as camera wouldn't focus, boo technology!

So there you have it - hope you enjoyed :) Please be sure to let me know your thought in the comments, would really appreciate it! If you took part please be sure to leave your links too so I can check yours out!

Top 8 Celeb & TV Couples

Hellooo,

Well it's that time of year again with Valentine's Day fast approaching this Friday, I decided to do a little something different. We are going to look at the what I think are 8 Top Celeb Couples, Real Life & TV! and a bit of history behind their relationship!

Real Life Celeb Couples

Frankly, all of you should know these couples and if not then you must be living under some sort of rock!

David & Victoria Beckham - Together Since 1997, Married 1999

I am probably the first to admit, when these two first got together in the younger days I did not like them much however they really have blossomed into a role model family who work hard to achieve some amazing things with 4 very beautiful children despite odd name choices, in my opinion.

Will & Jada Smith - Together Since 1995, Married 1997

Firstly, who knew Will had an older son who is 21 with his previous wife?! (new knowledge to me!) However, a lovely couple with famous children too. I still can't get over how good looking Will is for his age, he is a crush of mine - Men In Black fan right here :) This was the nicest picture of Jada I could find, her Red Carpet dress looks are slightly a bit too out going for my liking.

Mariah Carey & Nick Canon - Together Since Unknown, Married 2008

Ohhh how I love these two, her singing voice and his comedy bits are going to make their twins hopefully as talented as they are! According to Wikipedia no one is quite sure which year Mariah was born, however still older than my mummy!

Jay Z & Beyonce - Together Since 2002?, Married 2008

When they first started a relationship is unclear, rumoured to be after their song 'Bonnie & Clyde'. A couple who in pictures always seem very happy and a friendship bond like no other at Basketball Games etc. They have recently been named the richest celeb couple, lucky them! Plus did you know that they are like best friends with the President and his wife, bit of an odd friendship?

TV Couples

I really hope you know these couples from TV Series!

Monica & Chandler - 'Friends'

A very unlikely pair from when Friends first started but so brilliant how they got together etc. I think this relationship portrays a more realistic fantasy as they have their struggles and differences, working hard through the relationships as we all know no relationship is a fairytale like TV tells us!

Lily & Marshal - 'How I Met Your Mother'

A pretty modern day couple, think this picture really explains the couple a lot. I found it hilarious anyways! They really are such a funny duo and have had many a laughs watching them. It is really good seeing couples grow together throughout series, from young adults to making a family etc.

Haley & Nathan Scott - 'One Tree Hill'

Firstly, who knew this whole time that's how you spelt her name - I thought it was Hayley haha :) This one may not be as known to some of you, especially as the picture is slightly unclear. But for 9 whole series they had the most romantic life together with many ups and downs. But true love will always last :) Although, my favourite is still their little boy Jamie in the show - so funny & adorable!

Ross & Rachel - 'Friends'

Last but not least of course, my all time favourite from what is possibly the best show ever created. I really wish we got to see more of them at the end, come on when is the a film or something going to come out?! *waits patiently whilst I just phone the director* haha :)

Anymore for anymore?

So is there any other couples either celeb or from TV and films that you think should of been up here too? Let me know in the comments, would be really interesting to see your thoughts! Hope you liked this post & see you next time :)

14. How has your life changed since having kids?
Massively, but all for the best and wouldn't change it for the world!

15. Finish the sentence "It makes heart melt when..."
I am upset and Corey will come give me a cuddle and a kiss to make me feel better.

16. Where do you shop for your kids?
Depends on the occasion, Corey will wear mainly Next for his nicer wear however for Pre-School he will have Tesco or Sainsbury as they just end up ruined anyways plus they do actually have some decent things :)

17. Favourite make-up and skincare products?
Well I could probably name 101 things but my new recent favourite is No.7 Beautifully Matte Foundation in Calico and for skincare would be my Aveeno face cream.

18. Huggies or Pampers?
Pampers, always has been and will always be :)

19. Have you always wanted kids?
Yess, I always wanted to be a mum ever from a younger age - I became a mummy a bit earlier than planned but wouldn't change it for the world.

Blog Re-Brand

Hellooo,

Going from the old..

To the new..

Sad to see my old design and name go but as you can see my blog has had some changes - the new name is You're My Sunshine On A Cloudy Day and my domain will be www.sunshineonacloudyday.co.uk :)

So, I thought long and hard on a name, as many of you will know from Twitter. Even got you guys involved in a post to vote which you can see here. Just a huge thank you for all your great suggestions and help etc, and there were some really good ones. It was a real tough choice. I did want to go for something still mummy related as this is a big part of my blogging identity.

I have said that I wanted it to still be personal and mummy related, just not quite so 'yummy mummy' as I am far from yummy! The original name was just a spur of the moment idea when I initially started my blog, however I didn't want it to stick hence the name change happening now. I also got many compliments on my header, but I wasn't happy with it so yes I done it and changed the name.

How I Came Up With The Name?

One evening, I was going through my 100's of notes on my iPhone to have a clear out when I came across a list of phrases from 2012 when planning a tattoo. Anyways, I just scrolled right down the big list and there it was, the last one. Something just hit me, one of those feelings when I just knew that was it :)

Why The Name Choice?

So, as I just said I got that feeling in the pit of my stomach when I saw it.

I wasn't going to keep the picture of the mum and boy, however I couldn't let it go so I had to get the designer to put it and frankly I think she has done the most amazing job. If you read my blog you will know that Corey, my 3 year old cheeky monkey is my whole entire world and he is my sunshine on a cloudy day. The one person who can make my whole entire day turn around from bad to good with just a smile. If I am ever crying (usually at soaps - I am a sucker!) then he will always give me a cuddle and a kiss. What a sweetie!

This blog title now has a very personal and mummy touch to it, so makes my little blog all the more special to me :)

That Is It..

I have managed to get Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and BlogLovin already sorted - so if you don't already follow it would mean a lot to me if you clicked the links down below and did so :)

I guess that is it, let me know what you think of the new design and name, would love to know your thoughts!

Hospital Bag Preparation!

Helloo,

So as if preparing for birth isn't scary enough, you have the panic to make sure you have everything with you. I didn't get the chance to plan mine as my little wonderful ball of joy arrived too early for me to be prepared, cheeky monkey! So here is a look at what you could do with, doesn't matter whether you are having a natural, water or c-section. But what some people have forgotten is you are packing for lots of reasons:

Labour
Birth Partner
After Birth
Baby

You would be surprised at how many people in hospital forget bits and bobs, especially things for the birth partner - this could be other half, friend, parent etc. So here we go with the list:

Labour

Birth plan and maternity notes
Dressing gown
Old nightie or top
Slippers (ones that are easy to slip on and off as remember you can't bend down easily!)
Birth bouncy ball to help progress the birth on
Snacks and drinks, Isotonic Energy Drinks are great to keep you awake
Things to help you relax and pass time.. music, books, magazines or ipad to blog/tweet!
Hairband or hairclip
Extra pillows
Phone - may not be time to use it after birth but you could be hours in labour!

Birth Partner

Water spray or a hand-held fan, to cool you down whilst you're in labour
Comfortable shoes - so they can do all the running around for you!
A change of clothes, you could be there a while
Mobile phone and charger to keep others informed of progress
Camera to take photos or a short film of the birth and early moments with your baby
Snacks and drinks. You don't want a dehydrated, hungry birth partner looking after you

Nothing worse if they have to pop out to get stuff whilst you are about to burst!

After Birth

An outfit to go home in - takes a while for tummy to go down, so comfy stretchy clothes; some maternity wear is your best option!
Nursing bras
Nightie or t-shirt preferably front opening if you are wanting to breastfeed
Breast pads
Maternity pads, make sure you bring a few!
Toiletries - boots have a whole range of great travel sized bits
Towels, hairbrush, toothbrush and toothpaste
Old or cheap knickers, or disposable knickers - high waisted is an advantage especially encase you have a c-section
A little essential make-up (for all those new mum pics!)

For The Baby

A few body suits and sleep suits
Baby blanket - I know you've braught a special one you want them to have!
Plenty of nappies
Bibs
Muslin squares, dummies or whatever takes your fancy - if any!
Hat, socks, booties etc
Outfit to go home in (weather dependant, may need snowsuit in winter!)
Baby car seat - some hospitals won't let you leave by car without one
Maybe a little teddy for it's 1st cot and sleep!
Baby wipes
Cotton Wool - to wash the baby with water

The Bag

So of course you could use any bag for this, or maybe a couple of separate ones. Everytime I go hospital for whatever reason, I end up with around 4/5 bags full of stuff as you leave with magazines and snacks etc. I would personally for such a big thing, use a suitcase or a weekender bag.

How beautiful is this pink glittery suitcase by River Island. Probably a bit over the top, but I didn't want to post a plain boring black one!

There you have it :) is there anything else you had or will have that isn't in my list? Please be sure to comment & let me know!

Guest Post - Hannah Rosalie :)

 Hi Everyone!
I'm Hannah Rosalie from Hannah Rosalie's Words and I am delighted to guest blog for Gemma!
Today I am writing about a Winter must have that I can't get enough of!
Soap & Glory's Hand Food.

I have always been an avid fan of any product by Soap & Glory, however this must be in my top 5!
Hand food is a delicious, moisturising hand cream, that not only smells delicious, but works wonders!
Hand Food is packed full of Shea Butter, Macadamia Oil, Marshmallow and lots of yummy ingredients to make your hands super soft and nourished!

The product is a white thick-ish cream and smells amazing! (note-it is not edible ;)

Throughout the cold months I suffer from extreme chapped hands and they can get quite sore. Within a few days of using this hand cream, I could really tell the difference! My hands where less dry and chapped and started to feel soft/normal again!
You literally only need a pea sized amount of the product and it covers your whole hand!

After applying, your hands feel so soft and smell delicious. A bonus is that it doesn't leave a greasy residue like other brands and has a scent you wont get sick of!

I use this about six times a day. To some people, that is excessive however I have an outdoors job and have to use anti-bac gel ALOT! So this helps keep the balance in my hands.
If you are looking for a new hand cream this season, I deffinitly recommend Hand Food! They even do a mini version to pop in your pocket/handbag!

You can find this product at boots and the Soap & Glory range is currently 3 for 2!!

125 ml- RRP £5.00

50 ml-   rrp £2.50

If you have tried out a hand cream which really does the job, or have tried out this one,
I would love to hear what you thought of it!

Thanks for reading!!
