ZSL Whipsnade Zoo - Sunset Safari Event

Well the lovely ZSL Whipsnade Zoo - in Dunstable sort of near my area held a big event on Saturday 24th June. A 'Sunset Safari' where it was open from 6-10pm for us to have a look around and they had some extra special bits going on too. As well as the usual talks and feeds - there was also food stands, live music, face painting, train & truck tours, stilt walkers and more. Entrance for this only cost £21 something when pre-booked. So a couple of my friends and I immediately booked tickets. I was so gutted I couldn't take Corey but he was at his dads and I think frankly it might of been just too tiring and late for him anyways.

Luckily the weather was pretty decent. I was a little worried after the heat wave this week but there was such a lovely cool breeze which was so needed. All the animals were out and not hiding for a change. Is it just me or not but every time I visit a zoo the animals are hiding?!

One thing I was not really disappointed with but was a bit of a shame. They were doing a walk where people could follow the Elephants. But they quickly had to be cornered off due to massive amounts of people which was just a bit too much for them to handle unfortunately. So instead everyone crowded around. It wasn't very well planned. Although the elephants done great and looked amazing - I couldn't help but feel sorry for them.

But being almost 25 weeks pregnant and suffering with SPD (like bad hips unable to walk much)! Well lets just say as I am typing this up the next day to get posted, I am actually bed bound from the pain of walking so much. It isn't very nice at all but the evening was worth it.

So over all I had an amazing time with my friends and I am really glad I took my little camera to take some pictures that I am very proud of so just had to share. They did have a finale of 'fire and glow' which I am so gutted I missed but we couldn't get there in time so instead headed to the gift shop and purchased some rather cute goodies.

Enough of my rambling for now, lets get stuck into the overload of pictures..

Another great aspect about ZSL Whipsnade Zoo is that it looks onto Dunstable Downs, which I never realised how beautiful it is until now especially when the sun was setting..

So there you have it :) I hope they plan to do more nights like this in the future. Did you attend or would you if they done another?

Do you love zoos as much as me? I love a visit and try to go at least once a year. I can't wait to take Corey again but next time with our new little addition to our family too :) I really want to do ZSL London Zoo again as has been few years now and want to see if can compete to ZSL Whipsnade Zoo.

But they do have two Silent Cinema nights coming at the end of August playing Jumanji and Lion King. I think I might have to book along with Corey. Check it out here.

Helloo,

Well here is another dose of what we have been up too this half term. I'm a bit late on this because well I forgot - whoops! Least this time it isn't spent with Chicken Pox like Easter (read here for that!).

What did you get up too over the half term? Luckily there was some decent weather for it most of the time :)

Comedy Gala 2015 - Night Out In London :)

Helloo,

I always have the mummy guilt of going out without Corey, because I genuinely hate doing fun things without him! However, last night I finally after years of wanting to attend got to go to Channel 4's Comedy Gala!!

Channel 4's Comedy Gala 2015 - Night Out In London

My friends and I decided to make a bit of a day out of it, so we headed to St Pancras. A friend nipped into MAC to pick up a lipstick, so I ended up doing the same (even though I said don't let me buy anything in there). But it was fate, I had wanted Mehr for ages and the first lipstick I picked up to swatch was Mehr. It was just meant to be so I was a bit naughty and treated myself - glad I did though :)

We then headed to the very famous Searcy's Champagne Bar whilst at St Pancras. Oh wow, the prices were incredibly expensive. But our friend treated us all to a bottle to share. Felt like pure luxury - looking at the menu finding the most expensive bottle as you do just to see the price. £9000 for a 30 litre bottle?!!!

Channel 4's Comedy Gala 2015 - Night Out In London

Heading out to dinner to a little pub garden near the Tower of London called The Minories. It was really sweet and so much cheaper than I was thinking it would be. We shared a starter between two people of potato wedges with pulled pork (yum!!) and then had a burger each with a drink - coming to just £10 and look how delicious..

Then we started to head off to the 02 Arena, and for those of you who don't know apparently you can take cable cars which is basically on a zip line. I was quite excited until we got closer and I saw them - I was panicking absolutely crapping myself. I get stomach cramps when I'm nervous, my heart was racing so bloody fast. The lovely friends I having a laugh at how scared I was because they had all done it before so was fine for them. I almost didn't get on but I was so glad I did as was fun once up there! However, when my friends started walking around mid air going across the River Thames so they could take a picture together - lets just say they heard a lot of naughty words!!! Have to admit though, I got a pretty good selfie with the 02 in the background..

Channel 4's Comedy Gala 2015 - Night Out In London

Comedy Gala was meant to start at 7.30 but was almost 8 by the time it did. I was so excited as the opening act was Attraction (the shadow act) from Britain's Got Talent - I loved them then and seeing them live was so great. Plus Alan Carr - who was not on for long enough in my opinion. The good people were not on for long enough at all like Paul Chowdhry (my favourite from the night) who was beyond hilarious and some others like Trevor Noah, Seann Walsh, Kevin Bridges, Russell Kane and more. Michael McIntrye, who I have never really found funny before until last night and he was the best and I certainly want to go to one of his stands up now. I was gutted that Jimmy Carr and Paddy McGuinness weren't there as they are two of my favourites! I was really disappointed in the lady comedians - most of them sucked really badly and the ending was actually appalling like they really need to up that next time. I paid roughly £55 for my ticket and it was worth it, had great seats and will 100% want to go again next year.

For those of you who don't know, Comedy Gala is held as a charity event to raise money for the brilliant Great Ormond Street Hospital in London who look after and help very sick children. When Corey was premature he was almost rushed there, thankfully he managed to stay at our local hospital but I have friends who had children who had to stay there and all the amazing work they do needs help to keep that going for many years to come.

So pretty please if you get a chance text GOSH to 70007 to donate £3 :)

I'm not sure when this year's Comedy Gala will be aired on TV but hopefully soon - be sure to watch it, have a good old laugh and of course donate! Now if you had to pick your ultimate favourite comedian ever - who would it be? Mine will forever be good old Jimmy Carr!

Top 15 Posts Of 2014

Helloo,

I had seen of few of these 'Top 15 Posts Of 2014' around and I have enjoyed reading them so thought I would do one too. It's great to look back over the year to see what was written and see what was accomplished :) Somehow in 2014, I managed to write 181 posts altogether. I don't know how but in no particular order..

1. Pregnancy, Premature Birth & Beyond..

So this one was really really long, I still cry if I sit there and read it. This was written over 3 years after Corey was born, but still remember it as if it were yesterday. Literally went into detail of the pregnancy, birth, hospital stays, coming home and even a death scare. As you can imagine, pretty intense stuff!

2. Life Of A Premature Baby..

Well the last one leads onto this, I did talk about Corey being premature in the above but not a great deal. I decided to go into a lot more detail and show what it is really like to have a premature baby.

3. Pregnancy Losses & False Hope..

Oh such a sensitive topic for a lot of people, nothing is worse than a loss. If you know me well, you will know I am one broody mumma, false hope was an awful feeling. But my time will come when the time is right.

4. Annoying Question/Phrases Children Say..

This is a bit of a funny post, that I had a lot of fun writing. The picture explains it all really!!! If you have or work with children then you will just understand!

5. Butlins Skegness Holiday..

I love nothing more than reading about Holiday's, although it may contain my now ex - awkward. But it was a good holiday and I just love Butlins. I can't wait to write about more Holiday's in the future. Including Corey's first holiday abroad in a couple of months :) Excited is an understatement!!!!

6. Brit Mums Live..

It was my first blogging event, where I made some amazing friends and learnt some blogging bits. It was a great 2 day event and I can not wait to go again this year if I can :) I wonder if this beautiful outside area will still be there?!

7. Naming Day/Christening Ideas..

I didn't have a traditional Christening, I had a Naming Day - a little out of the ordinary but is now very common for those non religious like myself. It was such a great day and I shared some ideas and a bit about the day.

8. LegoLand

Honestly, one of the most amazing day trips out I have ever had with Corey. I didn't even feel very well and it was so beyond hot but really was so magical. You can see by the pictures on just how beautiful it was. Next time I'm staying in the Lego Hotel too!

9. Ideal Home Show, Earls Court..

I have always loved things like this and I am a massive fan of all things homeware. I was pretty much in heaven, that actually cost of fortune if I wanted to buy anything. I certainly would go again!

10. Massive Beauty Haul..

I may have gone a little crazy with the make-up buying on my 21st. Like insane amounts were spent - worth every penny though :) **Warning - Picture Heavy Post**

11. Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation Review

I think I have found my holy-grail foundation, everything in the review explains why but if you know your make-up then I am sure you already know about this one!

12. Photoshoot

I think it is great to have good quality photos that can be treasured. I've had 3 with Corey since he was a baby, and they all mean so much to me! This one, his personality really shined through which was lovely!

13. Benefit Cheeky Sweet Spot (Blush Palette) Review

It is the ultimate blush heaven, for the first time ever Benefit brought out a gift set containing 6 of their iconic blushes. It's so pretty and although you expect it to cost a fortune, it actually didn't!

14. Corey's 4th Birthday..

Just a few days before Christmas, is Corey's birthday. I got some lovely snaps of the day and it was very much a TMNT present theme and look at that chocolate foundation - yummy!

15. Christmas..

No need to even explain my love for Christmas, favourite time of year!

This was meant to start out as Top 10 but I got carried away a little bit - whoopsie :) so 15 it is - be sure to check some of them out if they take your fancy! What was your favourite post of the year to write?

Love, Gemma xo
